How's your head on this corona -coaster????

Now I've heard many people say this virus thing hasn't affected me, I'm still going to work etc.

But is that true?

Just like the image, this ride the world has been put on,has many ups and downs. And like this ride we aren't in control. The corona-coaster will take you were it's headed and no matter how hard we try, we still as human beings aren't in control. And just like this current Lockdown in England, plans, lives maybe health are at the focus of our attention.

So what are you feeling? And how is your head?

As human beings we kid ourselves that we have control over everything but the one thing we can't control is death. And that can scare us. Actually thinking about your own mortality or those you love can be a daunting and frightening. It can make you feel overwhelmed, turn to coping strategies that gives us comfort or we can go in to a state of denial.

All of these things are ok. You have never been through this before, your adapting and learning every single day. This new world we have been taken to is full of unknown. And for the majority of humans, we like certainty, we like control because this makes us feel secure.

I wonder if you if you considered that you may be grieving.

Grieving for your old life even if it wasn't perfect.

Loss and grief isn't exclusive because of death. Loss can be that of a pet, a relationship or friendship, a job, lifestyle. It can be a loss of just being able to pop to the shop without wearing a mask.

This ride, this coaster is hard. Normally when we experience loss there may be other aspects in our life that we can focus on or pour our energy into. But on this coaster, every aspect of our life has been touched in some way. So is it true that you haven't been affected?

This blog isn't to make you feel sad. It's about self awareness. Having self awareness gives you power.

If your having that glass of wine, is it taking the edge off or is it comforting?
Taking a few minutes to check with yourself gives you awareness. Then you can make a choice and choice is empowering.
If you choose taking the edge off, that's ok, we all need to take the edge of sometimes. You will still have gained awareness. And you have been kind to yourself, cutting yourself slack in this hard time.

Kindness to you self and empowerment of awareness are two of the greatest gifts you can give yourself.
Self care doesn't always have to be bubble baths and exercise. Giving gifts to yourself is self care.
Nourish yourself on this ride.
